The Art Deco skyscraper is 381 meters in height to the roof, and including the antenna, reaches a height of 443 meters. Since its completion in 1931, and up to 1972, it was the tallest building in the world. Since September 11 2001, it is again the tallest building in New York City. In the year 2013, the One World Trade Centre will be completed at the Ground Zero site, and with ca.541 meters, it will become the tallest building in the city. Some 120 million people have visited and enjoyed the panorama of the city from the viewing platform on the 86th floor. On the 102nd floor is another observation deck, but this is located inside the building. On special occasions and on holidays, the steeple shines in different colored lights.
